# How it works

What officers see and do in game.

## Registering a badge

1. Go to the badge office ped and interact with it through ox\_target. Only jobs listed in `Config.Jobs` see the option.
2. Choose **Register badge**, type your badge number (only in manual mode) and pick your division.
3. The camera opens in front of your face. Name, date of birth and sex are taken from your character.
4. Take the photo, check the preview and use it or take it again.
5. The badge lands in your inventory.

### Camera controls

| Key                      | Action               |
| ------------------------ | -------------------- |
| `A` / `D`                | Rotate the character |
| `W` / `S` or mouse wheel | Zoom                 |
| `E`                      | Take the photo       |
| `Backspace` / `Esc`      | Cancel               |

In the preview you can use the buttons, or `Backspace` to retake and `Esc` to cancel.

## Using the badge

Use the item from the inventory and choose:

* **Look at badge**: opens the wallet just for you.
* **Show to nearest**: the closest player within `Config.ShowDistance` sees your badge for `Config.DisplayTime` milliseconds.

Close it with `Backspace` or `Esc`. It also closes by itself if you die. The animation is skipped when you're inside a vehicle.

## Back at the office

Once you're registered, the ped shows your badge number, rank and division, plus these options:

* **Request a replacement**: a new card when yours is lost or stolen. It costs `Config.Duplicate.price` and old copies become VOID.
* **Update rank on badge**: only shows up when your job grade changed. Prints a new card with the new rank.
* **Retake photo**: takes a new photo. Every copy of your card shows the new one straight away.

A badge belongs to the officer, not to whoever holds it. A stolen badge still shows the name and photo of its real owner, just like in real life.

| **VOID**    | An old copy, after a replacement or a rank update (only with `Config.InvalidateOldCards = true`) |
| **REVOKED** | The registration was revoked by an admin                                                         |
